Black Friday 2026: Date, Store Deals Guide and How to Save

Last updated: September 24, 2026 · Checked against official retailer websites · How we verify

Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27, 2026, the day after Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26). Cyber Monday follows on Monday, November 30. As of late September 2026, most major retailers have not yet published their 2026 Black Friday ads, start dates or doorbuster lists, so this guide focuses on what each store has typically done around Black Friday, which loyalty perks stack with holiday deals, and which price-adjustment and return rules apply during the busiest shopping week of the year.

Key facts

  • Black Friday 2026: Friday, November 27. Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26.
  • Cyber Monday 2026: Monday, November 30. Giving Tuesday is December 1.
  • Black Friday is not a federal holiday. Thanksgiving is.
  • Many stores in our data say their Black Friday deals often start early in November, not on the Friday itself.
  • Several retailers exclude Black Friday prices from price matching or price adjustments, including Best Buy, Apple, Walmart and Kohl’s.
  • Some stores extend holiday return windows. Walmart accepts purchases made October 1 to December 31 through January 31 of the next year.

What has been announced for 2026 so far

As of September 24, 2026, most retailers have not announced their 2026 Black Friday dates, ads or specific deals. Retailers typically reveal these closer to the event, and any “leaked ad” you see before then should be treated with caution until the store confirms it. What is confirmed so far are the early holiday events in October:

  • Amazon Prime Big Deal Days: October 6-7, 2026, for Prime members. Amazon then typically runs Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals in late November. See our Prime Big Deal Days guide.
  • Target Circle Deal Days: the fall 2026 event is scheduled for October 6-7, with Target Circle 360 members getting early access on October 5.
  • Walmart Deals: Walmart ran a fall event on October 7-12 in 2025. We have not seen 2026 fall dates published yet.
  • Sephora Fall Savings Event: in 2025 it ran October 31 to November 10, with Rouge members shopping first. The 2026 dates have not been published in our data.

If an October price looks good, check the store’s price-adjustment rules (below) before deciding whether to wait.

How to save more on Black Friday

Join loyalty programs before the sales start

Early access is one of the most valuable Black Friday perks, because popular sizes and limited-quantity doorbusters can sell out. According to the stores’ own pages, Walmart+ members get early access to select Black Friday deals, My Best Buy Plus and Total members get early sale access, Levi’s Red Tab members often get early access, and Newegg+ members get early access to deals. Several of these programs are free, so sign up a few weeks ahead and make sure your account, address and payment method are saved.

Rewards programs also pay back after the sale. Kohl’s Rewards issues 5% back as Kohl’s Cash (7.5% with a Kohl’s Card), Costco Executive members earn a 2% annual reward, and Sam’s Club Plus members earn 2% Sam’s Cash on qualifying purchases.

Use store cards carefully

Store credit cards can add a second layer of savings on top of a sale price. Examples from our data include 5% off most purchases with a Target Circle Card, 5% back at Amazon with a Prime Visa for Prime members, 3% Daily Cash on Apple purchases with Apple Card, and sales tax paid back instantly with the B&H Payboo card. Only open a card if you would pay the balance in full; interest charges can wipe out a holiday discount quickly.

Know the price-adjustment rules, especially the exclusions

A price adjustment refunds the difference if a store lowers its price after you buy. It can make early shopping less risky, but Black Friday is the week when many stores switch it off:

  • Best Buy excludes Black Friday pricing from the Thursday before Thanksgiving through the following Monday.
  • Kohl’s does not give adjustments during Thanksgiving week.
  • Apple, Levi’s and Newegg exclude Black Friday prices from their adjustment policies.
  • HP excludes Thanksgiving and Cyber Week sales and doorbusters from price protection.
  • Walmart does not match Walmart.com special events such as Black Friday deals.

Stores with longer protection windows, such as the Microsoft Store (60 days on qualifying products) and IKEA Family members (90 days on IKEA’s own price drops), may still help if you buy in early November. Always confirm the current terms. Our price match guide covers every store’s policy.

Check holiday return windows before you buy gifts

Gifts bought in November may not be opened until late December, so the return window matters. Holiday extensions published by stores in our data include:

  • Walmart: purchases made October 1 to December 31 can be returned through January 31 of the next year.
  • Gap: items bought October 15 through December 24 can be returned through January 15.
  • Logitech: purchases from November 15 to December 23 can be returned until January 31.
  • Amazon, Best Buy and Macy’s usually extend return windows for holiday purchases; check the dates each season or on your receipt.

Some stores already have long standard windows, such as Chewy (most items within 365 days) and Kohl’s (120 days if you paid with a Kohl’s Card). Ask for a gift receipt at checkout. Compare more stores in our return policies guide.

Promo codes often don’t stack with Black Friday prices. Several stores in our data say codes usually exclude doorbusters, and some ban combining a promo with a price adjustment. Try your code at checkout, but don’t count on it.

How to spot fake discounts

A big “was” price doesn’t always mean a good deal. Use these checks before you buy:

  • Track the price now. Note the price of the items on your list in October, including during Prime Big Deal Days and Target Circle Deal Days. If the Black Friday price is the same or higher, it isn’t a Black Friday deal.
  • Compare the exact model. A doorbuster listing may be for a different model or configuration than the one you researched. Compare model numbers and specs, not just brand and screen size.
  • Look at the final total. Shipping fees, return fees and restocking fees can erase a small discount. Samsung, for example, charges restocking fees on many categories unless an item is damaged or defective.
  • Check who sells it. On marketplaces such as Amazon, Walmart and Newegg, third-party sellers set their own return terms and shipping speeds.
  • Remember gift-card offers. A gift card with purchase, the typical Apple approach, is only worth it if you’ll spend it.

Online vs. in-store

Online and in-store prices can differ, and some deals are limited to one channel. Shopping online makes comparing prices faster, while in-store shopping still has advantages for some purchases:

  • Shop online for items you’ve already researched, sizes you know, and when free shipping applies. Many stores offer free store pickup, which avoids shipping fees on small orders.
  • Shop in store for large items you want to see in person, when a store offers free in-store returns but charges for mail returns, or when a warehouse club deal is in-warehouse only.
  • Check the store’s in-store price policy. Walmart stores match identical in-stock items on Walmart.com, while Target matches its own store, Target.com and Circle prices within 14 days.

Shipping thresholds change during the holidays, so check the current minimum at checkout. See our free shipping guide for each store’s standard rules.
