Current sales

As of September 2026, Backcountry's sale page features a Fall Sale with up to 40% off gear and apparel, including ski and snowboard gear and bike gear. A Climb Sale on select climbing gear and apparel is listed as ending October 31. Sale selection and prices change often, and some sale items are marked final sale, so read the product page before you buy. Shipping

Backcountry offers free shipping on orders over $69. Oversized items, freight shipments and some destinations may carry extra charges or restrictions. Summit Club+ members also get free 2-day shipping on US mainland orders of $150 or more after discounts and before tax, excluding oversized items, freight, hazmat, bikes, Alaska, Hawaii and APO addresses.

Returns

Unused gear can be returned within 90 days of delivery, with proof of purchase, for a full refund to the original payment method. Summit Club+ members get a 365-day return window. Items must be unused with original packaging and tags. Used but undamaged gear may qualify for store credit within 30 days of delivery. The flat-rate FedEx return label costs $8.99, and that fee is waived if you choose store credit. Final sale, as-is and made-to-order items cannot be returned, and store purchases must be returned in store.

Rewards program

Summit Club is Backcountry's loyalty program. The free tier comes with account creation and includes a 10% off birthday gift each membership year, early access to select product drops and promotions, and member-only offers. Summit Club+ costs $49 per year plus tax and renews automatically. It adds 10% instant cash back on the subtotal of every eligible order, which can be used on later purchases and stacks with sales and promo codes. Members also get a dedicated Gearhead expert, a 20% off birthday gift, partner perks from outdoor brands, extended returns and free 2-day shipping on qualifying orders. Benefits work at both Backcountry and Competitive Cyclist.

Special discounts

Backcountry does not list a student, military, teacher or first responder discount on its site as of September 2026. The new customer email offer and Summit Club are the main savings programs open to everyone.

Price match

Backcountry's Lowest Price Guarantee covers identical new items, same size, color and model year, that are in stock at a US-based online retailer authorized by the brand. Competitor pricing must be verifiable online, and approval is at Backcountry's discretion. Before buying, contact a Gearhead to adjust the price. After buying, contact customer service within 48 hours to request a refund of the difference. Price matching excludes auction sites, third-party sellers, vendor-shipped items, rebates, bundles and custom orders, and bikes are handled case by case.

Payment options

Backcountry offers Klarna at checkout for paying over time, and it accepts HSA and FSA funds on eligible gear. Backcountry credits and gift cards can also be applied to orders. Store credits generally expire one year from issue, or 90 days for promotional credits.
