How to save at Best Buy: the smartest ways

Best Buy combines price matching, membership perks and frequent sales. As of September 2026, these moves save the most:

1. Create a free My Best Buy account. It unlocks free standard shipping and easier order tracking.
2. Consider Plus for big purchases. At $29.99 a year, Plus adds member prices, early access to sales, free 2-day shipping, a 60-day return window and 1% back in rewards on qualifying purchases.
3. Pair membership with the My Best Buy Credit Card. Best Buy says Plus and Total members who pay with the card can earn a combined 6% back (1% membership plus 5% card rewards).
4. Price match before you pay. If a qualified competitor has the identical new item for less, Best Buy will match it at the time of purchase.
5. Watch prices after you buy. If Best Buy lowers its own price during your return window, ask for the difference. You can request more than once.
6. Shop Open-Box and refurbished. These are often significantly cheaper, though they're excluded from price matching.

Black Friday pricing, from the Thursday before Thanksgiving through the following Monday, is excluded.
