• Compare the discount rates you qualify for. AAA, AARP, CAA, senior, government and military rates are all listed on the hotel discounts page. Check each one against the member rate for your dates, since the cheapest option can change.
• Use your points. Pay with Points lets you put as few as 5,000 points toward the cost of a room, and points can also be used for free nights.
• Book directly. Rewards promotions exclude bookings made through online travel agencies and tour operators, so booking at bestwestern.com or through the app keeps you eligible.

Best Western Rewards program

Best Western Rewards is free to join. According to the Best Western Rewards page, members earn 10 points per US dollar spent on eligible room charges at most hotels, and 5 points per dollar at Executive Residency, SureStay Studio and @Home by Best Western properties. Points never expire, and the program advertises no blackout dates on free nights. Elite tiers are based on qualifying nights each calendar year: Gold at 5 nights, Platinum at 7, Diamond at 15 and Diamond Select at 25. Elite members earn bonus points of 10% to 50% depending on tier, and Gold and above get perks such as 500 bonus points on arrival and complimentary water. Members also get access to exclusive member rates and a dedicated reservation line.

Current promotion: Rewards Rush double points

As of October 2026, Best Western Rewards members can earn a point bonus equal to their base points on each qualified stay, which effectively doubles base earnings. Stays must take place between September 8 and December 31, 2026, and you must register before the stay, either in your online account or at the front desk. A qualified stay is at least one night at a Best Western branded hotel at a rate that earns points. Stays booked through online travel agencies, tour operators and special discounted rates do not count. Your earning preference must be set to points, and bonus points usually post about two weeks after checkout. There is no limit on the number of qualifying stays.

Special discounts

AAA and CAA. AAA members can save by booking the AAA rate at participating hotels, and a separate CAA rate is offered for Canadian members. Best Western does not list a fixed percentage on the AAA page.

AARP. The AARP page lists discounted rates of 5% or more for AARP members throughout North America. Book the AARP member rate online and show your AARP card at check-in.

Seniors. Guests 55 and older can book the senior rate and will be asked for proof of age at check-in. A specific percentage is not posted.

Government and military. The government and military discounts page offers rates at or below per diem for federal and state government employees, military and civilian military personnel including veterans, tax-funded hospital and university staff, and cost-reimbursable contractors. You must show an official ID or work orders at check-in. Members of the Service Rewards program get automatic Gold status.
