Crate & Barrel shopping guide: how to save more

Guide last reviewed: September 2026

How to save at Crate & Barrel: the smartest ways

1. Start with the sale section. As of September 2026, the sale page lists up to 35% off top kitchen brands such as Le Creuset and Jura, plus markdowns on bedding, rugs, lighting and outdoor pieces.
2. Dig into clearance. Clearance items run up to 60% off, and furniture clearance reaches up to 50% off. Stock is limited, so the best pieces go quickly.
3. Filter for free shipping. Thousands of items ship free. Because standard shipping is charged by order value, choosing free-shipping items can save you a meaningful amount on smaller orders.
4. Register, even for small events. A wedding or baby registry unlocks a 15% completion discount that lasts up to six months after the event date, which is useful for filling gaps with bigger items.
5. Use the store card for large purchases. The Crate & Barrel Visa Signature card earns 10% back in Reward Dollars at Crate & Barrel, CB2, Crate & Kids and Hudson Grace. On qualifying purchases you can choose special financing or 10% in Reward Dollars instead.
6. Plan furniture delivery costs. Local in-home delivery is a flat fee rather than per-item for larger orders, so bundling furniture into one order is usually cheaper than several separate deliveries.
7. Get the app. The Crate & Barrel app offers first looks and personalized alerts, which helps you catch price drops on items you are watching.
8. Watch "Special" pricing. Items labeled Special or Limited Time Offer, such as select Le Creuset and ZWILLING pieces, are often priced well below suggested retail.

Shipping & delivery options

Crate & Barrel uses tiered shipping charges for small parcels based on merchandise total and speed. As of September 2026, standard 3-5 business day shipping in the contiguous U.S. ranges from about $6 to $30 depending on order value, with Premium (2 business days) and Express (next business day) options costing more. Orders over $300 are charged a percentage of the merchandise total. Many items are marked with free shipping, and registry guests get free shipping on eligible purchases of $49 or more.

Furniture ships differently:

• Local in-home delivery: two-person service with placement in the room of your choice and packaging removal, typically 7-14 business days. Flat fees apply and depend on order value and distance from a shipping point.
• Basic freight delivery: a lower-cost option for some items, usually 16-21 business days.
• Long-distance in-home delivery: a flat rate for unlimited furniture more than 100 miles from a shipping point, typically 2-4 weeks.

In-stock furniture can arrive in as little as 7 days. Check exact fees at checkout, since they vary by ZIP code. See the shipping FAQ for full details.

Return & exchange policy

Most items can be returned within 30 days of receipt in new, unused and resalable condition with proof of purchase such as a receipt, packing slip, order number or registry number. Eligible registry gifts (excluding furniture) have a 90-day window from the event date. Refunds go back to the original payment method, typically within 7-10 business days; gift receipt returns get merchandise credit.

Keep these exceptions in mind:

• Final sale, personalized items, made-to-order furniture, floor samples, live plants and cut fabric cannot be returned.
• Original shipping fees are not refunded, and you pay return shipping.
• Furniture returns are arranged by contacting the store of purchase.
• In-store returns go to the matching brand's store (Crate & Barrel items to a Crate & Barrel store, CB2 items to CB2).

Details are on the returns and exchanges page.

Rewards & membership explained

Crate & Barrel does not run a free points program; its main rewards vehicle is the Crate & Barrel Visa Signature card. As of September 2026 it has no annual fee and earns:

• 10% back at Crate & Barrel, CB2, Crate & Kids and Hudson Grace
• 4% back at home retailers and grocery stores
• 4% back on eligible dining through 12/31/2026
• 1% back everywhere else Visa is accepted

Reward Dollars are issued in $20 increments and can be used online or in store. New cardholders can earn a $50 welcome bonus after spending $1,000 outside the four brands within 90 days, and there is a $100 milestone bonus at $10,000 in annual spend. On qualifying purchases ($749 and up) you can choose promotional financing of 6 to 24 months or 10% in Reward Dollars. Approval is subject to credit, and interest rates are high if you carry a balance, so pay in full when possible. See the credit card page.

The registry is the other major perk: besides the 15% completion discount, registrants get gift tracking, real-time gift alerts and concierge support.

Student, military, teacher & other discounts

We could not confirm a student, military, teacher or senior discount on the Crate & Barrel website as of September 2026. Design professionals can apply to the Trade Program, and the store also offers free design services. Ask in store if you think you may qualify for a group discount.

Price matching & price adjustments

We did not find a published price match or price adjustment policy on the site. If an item you just bought drops in price, contact customer service and ask; otherwise, returning within 30 days and repurchasing may be an option for items in resalable condition, though you would lose any shipping fees paid.

Payment options

Crate & Barrel accepts the Crate & Barrel Visa Signature card (with optional special financing on qualifying purchases) and Reward Dollars. Other payment methods, such as major credit cards and gift cards, are shown at checkout.

When Crate & Barrel has its biggest sales

Crate & Barrel typically runs its deepest markdowns around major holidays and seasonal transitions: Black Friday and Cyber Monday, after-Christmas clearance in January, and end-of-season outdoor furniture sales in late summer. Kitchen brand events, like the current up to 35% off Le Creuset and Jura, appear throughout the year. The Halloween shop and Holiday 2026 collection are already live in September, so early shoppers get the best selection while waiting for later markdowns.

How to use a Crate & Barrel promo code

1. Add items to your cart on crateandbarrel.com.
2. Open the cart and look for the promo code field before checkout.
3. Enter the code exactly as shown and apply it; the discount appears in your order summary.
4. Check exclusions: final sale, clearance and some brands are often not eligible.
5. Complete checkout. Registry completion discounts are applied through your registry account rather than a public code.
