How to save at H&M: the smartest ways

H&M prices are already low, so the extra savings come from membership perks, shipping choices and timing your purchases around sales.

1. Join H&M Membership first. It is free for shoppers 16 and older and comes with 10% off your first purchase.
2. Collect points on every order. Members earn 1 point per dollar, and every 200 points becomes a $5 reward.
3. Use Ship to Store. Ship to Store is free with no minimum, so it beats paying for shipping on small orders.
4. Reach Plus status. After 500 points, members unlock Plus perks, including free shipping and returns, surprise offers and early access to limited collections.
5. Return in store. In-store returns are always free, while mail-in returns cost a flat fee.
6. Use your birthday offer. Members get a birthday treat each year, so plan a purchase around it.
7. Shop member events. H&M runs member-only shopping events and offers that are not available to guests.
8. Buy during end-of-season sales. H&M marks down large amounts of seasonal stock as collections change.

Shipping & delivery options

As of September 2026, H&M offers these delivery options in the U.S.:

H&M HOME furniture, shelving, lighting and rugs ship by standard shipping only. Orders may arrive in more than one package at no extra cost.

Return & exchange policy

H&M gives you 30 days to return or exchange items.

• In store: Always free at any H&M store in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico), with a valid receipt and the tags attached.
• By mail: A flat $5.99 fee is deducted from your refund for mail-in returns of online orders, and packages must be postmarked within 30 days of delivery. Member perks, such as Plus status, may include free returns, so check your account.
• Refunds: Go back to your original payment method. Original shipping and handling charges are not refunded, and gift card payments are refunded to the original gift card.
• Late returns: Returns are not accepted after the 30-day window, in store or by mail.

H&M Membership explained

H&M's loyalty program is free and available in the app or on hm.com.

How points work: You earn 1 point for each dollar spent. Once you reach 200 points, a $5 reward is issued, and it can take up to 30 days to appear. Points are valid for 12 months, counted from your membership start date.

Student, military, teacher, senior & other discounts

H&M's main built-in discount is the 10% welcome offer for new members. H&M is listed as a partner on the student discount platform UNiDAYS, but we could not confirm a current U.S. student discount amount, so check UNiDAYS directly. Price matching & price adjustments

H&M has told customers publicly that it does not offer price adjustments. If an item you just bought goes on sale, H&M has previously suggested returning it within the return window and buying it again at the lower price.
