Hyatt shopping guide: how to save more

Hyatt at a glance

Hyatt operates hotels and resorts around the world under a family of brands, from luxury properties to extended stay hotels. Booking direct on Hyatt.com or in the World of Hyatt app is the main way to get member pricing, earn points and use Hyatt’s current promotions. Unlike a retail store, Hyatt does not use promo codes much; most savings come from rate types and loyalty offers you register for.

Best ways to save at Hyatt

• Join World of Hyatt before you book. Membership is free and unlocks the Member Rate at participating hotels.
• Register for current promotions. Many Hyatt bonus offers only count if you register first, so check the offers page before your stay.
• Book in advance if your plans are firm. Hyatt says members can save more with an Advance Purchase option when booking 7 or more days ahead, but it requires full, non-refundable prepayment.
• Use the Best Rate Guarantee. If you find a lower qualifying rate elsewhere soon after booking, you can claim an extra discount or bonus points.
• Use special rates if you qualify. Government and military travelers can choose the Government rate at select US hotels.

World of Hyatt rewards program

World of Hyatt is Hyatt’s free loyalty program. Members earn up to 5 Base Points for every eligible US dollar spent at most Hyatt hotels and resorts, and they can also earn through partners for dining, car rentals, airlines and more. Points can be redeemed for free nights starting at 3,000 points, airline miles or experiences. According to the program’s benefits page, base members also get complimentary internet during eligible stays and resort fee waivers on free night awards.

Elite tiers are based on qualifying nights or Base Points earned in a year:

• Discoverist: 10 nights or 25,000 Base Points, with a 10% points bonus and 2pm late checkout when available.
• Explorist: 30 nights or 50,000 Base Points.
• Globalist: 60 nights or 100,000 Base Points.

The offers page also lists a Brand Explorer award: members earn a free night for every five unique Hyatt brands they stay at.

Current World of Hyatt promotions

As of October 2026, the official offers page lists several member promotions. Registration rules and dates matter, so always read the terms first:

• Extended stays at Hyatt House and Hyatt Studios: earn 5,000 Bonus Points on each qualifying stay of five or more consecutive nights, up to 50,000 points. Register and complete stays by December 31, 2026.
• Thompson Hotels 25th anniversary: earn 2X Bonus Points on eligible stays booked through the World of Hyatt app, up to 30,000 Bonus Points, for stays through November 10, 2026. Registration must be done in the app.
• World of Hyatt Credit Card: the offers page advertises up to 60,000 Bonus Points with the card. Terms and approval apply.

Bonus points usually post a few weeks after checkout, and bonus points do not count toward elite status.

Member Rate and Advance Purchase

The Member Rate is an exclusive rate for World of Hyatt members at participating hotels. Book on Hyatt.com or through a Hyatt Global Care Center and give your membership number. Your membership must be in good standing when you book and stay. A limited number of rooms are set aside for this rate, it cannot be combined with other rates or promotions, and blackout periods may apply during special events or high demand. Hyatt did not state a fixed percentage off on the page we checked.

Best Rate Guarantee

Hyatt’s Best Rate Guarantee covers you if you find a lower, publicly available, immediately bookable room-only rate on another site for the same stay. Complete the online claim form within 24 hours after booking on Hyatt.com, and if the claim is approved Hyatt gives you an additional 20% off or 5,000 World of Hyatt Bonus Points. The hotel’s cancellation policy still applies to your reservation.

Special discounts

Hyatt offers a Government rate at select hotels in the United States. It is open to federal, state, county and local government employees, active US military personnel, employees of state-funded educational institutions and healthcare facilities, and certain defense or cost-reimbursable contractors. Choose Government from the Special Rates menu when booking, and bring valid government or military ID to check-in. Without it, the hotel may switch you to a standard rate. We did not confirm AAA or senior rate terms on the official site for this guide.

Cancellation and payment

Cancellation rules vary by hotel and by rate. Flexible rates can usually be changed under the hotel’s policy, while Advance Purchase rates require full, non-refundable prepayment. Always read the rate details on the booking screen before confirming, since the policy shown there is the one that applies.

Sale calendar

Hyatt runs limited-time promotions through the year, and its newsroom has announced sales such as a member Cyber offer in the Americas in past years. Dates and discounts change each year, so we only list offers shown on the official offers page as of October 2026.

How to use an offer at Hyatt

1. Sign in to your World of Hyatt account, or join for free.
2. Open the offers page and register for any promotion you want, before your stay.
3. Search for your hotel and dates on Hyatt.com or in the app, and choose the Member Rate or a special rate such as Government if you qualify.
4. If a promotion requires a special offer code, Hyatt lists it in that offer’s terms; enter it in the special rates or offer code field when searching.
5. Check the rate details and cancellation policy, then confirm your booking with your membership number attached.
