How to save at J.Crew: the smartest ways

J.Crew sells classic clothing, cashmere, shoes and accessories for women, men and kids. Full-price items can be expensive, but a few habits bring the cost down a lot.

1. Join J.Crew Passport before you order. The Green tier is free and gives you free standard shipping at jcrew.com. That alone saves the $7 standard shipping fee on every order.
2. Shop the sale section first. J.Crew keeps a dedicated sale area with women's, men's and kids' styles. Start there before paying full price for basics.
3. Watch for your birthday offer. Passport members receive birthday and half-birthday gift offers, worth $15 to $25 depending on tier. Plan a larger purchase around them.
4. Consider the J.Crew Credit Card only if you shop often. New cardholders get an extra 20% off their first purchase when they open and use the card. Cardmembers also earn points that turn into $5 rewards for every 200 points.
5. Buy cashmere with points in mind. Cardmembers earn accelerated points on cashmere (3 or 5 points per $1, depending on tier), so a sweater purchase moves you toward rewards faster.
6. Use rewards before they expire. Passport rewards expire 90 days after they are issued. Set a reminder so you don't lose them.

Shipping & delivery options

Return & exchange policy

J.Crew accepts returns within 30 days of the original purchase with proof of purchase. Mail returns must be postmarked, or store drop-offs scanned, within that window.

• Return label fee: The prepaid return label costs $7.50, which is taken out of your refund.
• Exchanges: Free.
• In store: Online and phone orders can be returned to J.Crew retail stores, but not to J.Crew Factory stores.
• Not returnable: Final sale items, monogrammed or personalized pieces, lingerie, vintage, altered items, swimsuits without an intact hygienic liner, marketplace items and items bought with loyalty points.
• Refunds: Issued to the original payment method. Gift returns are refunded to a gift card.

J.Crew Passport rewards explained

J.Crew Passport is free to join and has three levels based on yearly spending:

• Green: No minimum spend. Includes free standard shipping at jcrew.com, personalized offers and birthday gifts.
• Navy: $500 or more a year. Adds perks such as free monogramming. Credit cardmembers start at Navy.
• Gold: $1,000 or more a year, with richer birthday and anniversary rewards.

Points are earned by J.Crew Credit Card holders on purchases at J.Crew, J.Crew Factory, jcrew.com and jcrewfactory.com. Navy members earn 2 points per $1 and Gold members earn 3 points per $1. J.Crew has separate programs for teachers and students, and for military members, medical workers and first responders, linked from the site footer.
