Michaels shopping guide: how to save more

Guide last reviewed: September 2026

How to save at Michaels: the smartest ways

1. Check the homepage for the current sitewide offer. As of September 2026, Michaels is advertising 30% off all regular price purchases online with a code shown on its homepage. Exclusions apply, so check the fine print for excluded brands.
2. Join Michaels Rewards before your first order. New members get $5 in Rewards when they spend $15 or more, valid through October 3, 2026, and all members can earn up to 9% back depending on their tier.
3. Watch for spend-and-earn rewards. Michaels regularly runs offers like earn $5 when you spend $30 or more, which you can use on a later trip.
4. Shop BOGO deals. Michaels runs many multi-buy offers, including Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off, Buy 1 Get 1 Free, Buy 2 Get 1 Free and even Buy 2 Get 3 Free on select items. Stock up on supplies you use often when these appear.
5. Buy seasonal decor during themed sales. The Boo It Yourself Halloween sale is at 50% off, and artificial Christmas trees are up to 60% off with free shipping on trees.
6. Use the teacher or military discount. Verified educators and military members get 15% off their entire purchase, including sale items, every day.
7. Bundle balloons. Balloon bundles such as foil balloons 3 for $9 and latex balloons 12 for $12 are cheaper than buying single balloons.
8. Check clearance, but know it is final. Clearance items are sold as is and cannot be returned, so buy only what you are sure about. Michaels sometimes runs extra-off-clearance events for a few days.
9. Reach the free shipping minimum after discounts. The free shipping threshold is based on your subtotal after coupons and discounts, so add small supplies if you are just short.

Shipping & delivery options

Michaels ships most online orders and offers free shipping once your subtotal reaches the minimum required amount, measured after coupons and discounts and before tax. Check the current threshold in your cart. During the current tree sale, trees ship free.

Scheduled Delivery is a contactless same-day service from select stores, with delivery windows of 12 PM to 2 PM and 4 PM to 6 PM local time. Orders can be scheduled up to 2 hours ahead, or 3 hours for balloon deliveries. Shipping promotions cannot be applied to same-day delivery orders, and not every item is eligible. Helium balloons are available for same-day delivery or scheduled in-store pickup.

Return & exchange policy

As of September 2026, most items can be returned within 60 days of purchase. Online-only costumes and accessory kits must be returned 7 days before the holiday.

• With a receipt: full refund to your original payment method.
• Without a receipt in store: valid photo ID is required, and you get the item's lowest price in the previous 90 days as a Store Return Card or exchange.
• Online returns: go to your order history, choose Return and follow the prompts.
• Exceptions: Cricut products must be unopened with a receipt; Glowforge machines have a 14-day window and must be sealed; cut fabric, clearance items and gift cards are final sale.
• Condition: items must be new, unused and in original packaging unless defective.

Michaels Rewards explained

Michaels Rewards is free to join. Members also get VIP discounts and access to rewards promotions such as earn $5 when you spend $30 or more. Rewards are not earned on taxes, gift cards, extended warranties, shipping fees or third-party MakerPlace items. Your Rewards account is also how you register for the teacher and military discounts.

Student, military, teacher & other discounts

• Students: no student discount was listed as of September 2026.

Both discounts exclude categories such as clearance, Cricut machines, Lego, gift cards and third-party seller items.

Price matching & price adjustments
