Exam Day Offer and Go Home Day Offer

These are Trupanion's two main activation offers, and they are the closest thing the company has to a coupon. Both are typically handed out by a veterinary hospital, breeder or shelter, and you activate them on Trupanion's certificates pages using the offer code you were given plus your postal code, email and veterinarian.

The Exam Day Offer provides 30 days of coverage at no upfront cost when you activate within 24 hours after a veterinary exam. The Go Home Day Offer is for puppies and kittens (and other pets up to 14) coming from a breeder or shelter, and it must be activated from 24 hours before until 24 hours after the pet goes home. Florida residents can activate the Go Home Day Offer anytime from the match date to 24 hours after go-home. Both offers are limited to one per pet and are not available in New York.

In several states, including California, Idaho, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Washington, plus Puerto Rico, the program works as a discounted first-year monthly payment, with the first month's cost spread across months two through twelve. Pricing and what affects your premium

Trupanion bases your premium on your pet's breed, age at enrollment and where you live. The company says it may adjust rates for rising veterinary costs in your area but not simply because your pet ages.
